Additive Manufacturing Considerations
Build Orientation & Supports
Part orientation affects surface finish, strength, and support removal time. Hong Ying Tooling optimizes orientation for minimal post-processing and maximum Z-axis strength.
Layer Thickness & Resolution
SLA layers at 25-100 um, SLS/MJF at 80-120 um, FDM at 100-300 um. Finer layers improve surface finish but increase build time and cost.
Post-Processing
SLA parts are washed and UV-cured. SLS/MJF parts are depowdered and media-blasted. DMLS parts are stress-relieved in a furnace and support-removed by CNC machining.
Tolerances
SLA: +/-0.2% (min 0.2 mm). SLS/MJF: +/-0.3% (min 0.3 mm). FDM: +/-0.5% (min 0.5 mm). DMLS: +/-0.1% (min 0.05 mm). Critical dimensions should include machining allowances.
